What is Spiritual Direction?
In my practice, Spiritual Direction is holding space for the directee to connect with themselves and the divine on a deeper level. This process is unique to the individual and may include directee share, questions focused on exploration and self-reflecti, and sharing established spiritual wisdom with scriptures and inspirational quotes from sources that resonate with the directee. This is not therapy, but a chance to enter a nonjudgmental space where spiritual topics can be explored without ridicule. I cannot give you the answers that will satisfy your soul, but I can help you find them for yourself.
Laureen as a Spiritual Director
I’m a Christian with a deep respect for wisdom from various religions, cultures, and belief systems. I’m a traveler, a Reiki Master Teacher, and a mindful artist. I have a background in higher education as an ESL Instructor, traveling the world and working with students from all over. I’ve written a travel memoir, On My Eye: All That I Learned of Love and Life from a Syrian-Kurdish Refugee in Istanbul. I am currently writing a book about Reiki wisdom and living a spiritually connected life.
My Christianity is rooted in a deep spirituality that has been a part of me since childhood. This is expressed through an ongoing daily conversation with God, work (and artwork) with the angels, and a connection with my intuition, resulting in a deep knowing within my soul. As I work with a directee, I share established wisdom from sources they express comfort with and help them build trust in their own inner knowing to find what resonates for them. The goal is to develop deeper relationships with themselves, others, and the divine.
